I'm Gulliver. I had just started my travels and look where I ended up -
the dog pound. People say that I am a strikingly handsome fellow even
though I didn't feel much like posing the day my picture was taken. I have
one blue eye and one brown eye. That sort of catches your eye. I'm well
behaved with people and like other dogs but not cats. If you have cats,
it's best that you look elsewhere. Having a lot of energy as I do, it
would be better if my forever home did not have small children. I was born
in the summer or fall of 2004 I think and weigh around 60 lbs. I'm hoping
I could give up my traveling and settle into a good home. Will you give me
a chance?

You don't have to call me Darlin', darlin, but that is my name. I was
apparently abandoned out in the country but was lucky to find a family
willing to foster me until I can get to my forever home. I'm pretty young
- maybe a year or a little less. You know time is difficult concept for us
dogs. We live in the present. I heard people say I looked like a Dalmatian/Greyhound
mix. Sounds good to me. I'm pretty unique looking. Since I'm young, I have
quite a bit of energy but get along well with other dogs. The cat thing,
Foster Mom is working with me on that. Well actually, it's more Foster
Mom's cat that is working with me - Ouch! I've learned to behave - until
someone runs, then the thrill of the chase overpowers me. But that's all
it is - a chase. Foster Mom is teaching me other manners - like sitting
for treats and waiting my turn to eat. She thinks I'm pretty smart. I'm
thin but maybe that's just my build - I'm not a big-boned girl. I weigh
about 45 pounds. Maybe I'll put on a little weight but maybe not. Time
will tell. There's that time thing again. If you are interested in having
a dog with great love and affection to offer, please ask about me now.

Notes: Bebe. That's me. A bouncy, cheerful little mix. - who knows how many
breeds I am. Guess you could say that I am a Bebe breed. One of a kind. I
would never say so but I have been told that this picture does not do me
justice. I do very well with children. I am sweet and loving and just want
a home with a family that I can adore.

Beowulf. The great warrior. Not. I am a great dog though. When I came into
the pound I was pretty mangy and was suffering with a terrible skin
infection all over my body but especially on my right front leg and foot.
I have been through 2 rounds of antibiotics to get rid of the skin
infection. I keep telling my foster mom that the real cure is easy. Let me
live in air conditioned comfort. Oh, I do walk a little differently than
most - I had a broken shoulder a long time ago and it didn't mend exactly
right. It doesn't bother me. Hope it doesn't bother you. I am neutered,
heartworm free and up to date on my shots. Got A/C? Get me!

Notes:
My name is Nelson. I'm a black Labrador Retriever mix male dog. The
volunteers thought I was an older dog because of the premature graying
around my muzzle, but I don't think I'm that old, maybe about 5 years old.
I have lots of energy, I love to run and play, and I get along fine with
other dogs, and I think maybe cats too. I'm not very big, about 50 lbs. I
have been neutered, have had all my vaccinations and wormings, and I
tested negative for heartworms. I just want out of this little kennel and
I want my very own family and a nice fenced yard to run and play. If you
are looking for a great companion, please pick me!!

Notes:
Everybody's best guess for the 2 top breeds in me are German Shepherd
and Great Dane. Obviously there is something else - from which I
inherited my markings. Probably a long list so whatever you're looking
for, chances are, it's in me. My foster Dad thinks I'm a great guy
because I'm quiet - bark very little, I like people, I get along with
other dogs, I enjoy running with him in the mornings and am generally a
very loving dog. Don't know how I feel about cats so it's probably
better safe than sorry - I might need a home with no felines. I'm
heartworm negative, up to date on shots, neutered and ready for a
forever family. P.S. The 'Q' is just a little record keeping thing.

Who is that masked dog? It is Winston. Me. I am a Pointer mix but guess I
pointed in the wrong direction and got lost. I made my way to the Goliad
Harvest Moon Festival in the fall of 2004. I think I was about 2 years old
at the time. I almost missed the pet adoption people. I was too busy
gobbling up food dropped by little munchkins. Yum! I was hungry! But I was
rescued and although the pound is not really a good place to be, the meals
are regular. I am neutered, heartworm free and up to date on my shots.
Will you consider giving me a new home? A home with no cats. Please.

Notes: Let
me introduce myself. My name is Inky. I was born at the city pound in
September, 2003. Not a great start in life you might say, but it was safer
than being born on the streets. Mom had 10 pups. Only 5 of us survived the
first week. My sister, 2 brothers and I were moved to foster care when we
were 2 months old. Comparing foster care to the pound, we thought for sure
we were in heaven but Foster Mom said there's a better home out there
where we will be loved even more. I do need to let you know that Mom is a
Pit Bull mix. She was reclaimed by her owner a few months after we said
good-bye.
Without false humility, I must say that I am the smartest of the bunch. I
was the first to figure a way to climb over the board in the pound that
confined us to one section of the kennel. I have learned quickly to 'sit'.
I was the first to figure out that the view of the backyard from a lawn
chair was totally different than the view from the ground. Did you know
that you can really stretch out on a recliner and that it is much softer
than the floor? We don't get to run loose in the house all of the time but
when we do, I am on my best behavior. And I love wearing beautiful
collars. I do love to run and play, though. We have a huge yard here and
although we have explored every square inch of it, we are always looking
for something new. I have little or no contact with children so my forever
home needs to be with adults. I am crate trained. Oh, yes. My weight. I
weigh a little on the far side of 50 pounds.

Honest. My name is Abe. Please don’t just glance at my picture and think,
“just another ole black dog wandering the streets of Goliad. They are a
dime a dozen”. True, there does seem to be a lot of us around. But look
into our eyes. That’s where we are. I’m looking for a family upon whom
I can bestow my adoration and loyalty. I’ve moved from the pound into
foster care. A great first step. Provide the next step and let me show you
I can be part of a family?

Notes:
My name is Ishtar. What a name, eh? Nobody really knows for sure what my
pedigree is. I am part lab but judging from my furrowed brow and ample
skin around my neck, there has to be a noble bloodhound somewhere among my
ancestors. Before we go any further, I do need to say that Mom is a Pit
Bull mix. My siblings and I were born at the city pound. We were moved to
foster care at 2 months and later Mom was reclaimed by her owner.
My prissy sister Inky likes to wear collars but I like to run around
naked. Yes, I know it's best to wear id, so I tolerate the collar. I also
tolerate Inky 'cause she always wins when we play tag.
Admittedly, I've done all those annoying puppy things, like chewing and
digging. However, I am maturing everyday. Give me a bone and I'll chew for
hours but a good run around the yard is a great thing, too. I know how to
sit but sometimes, I just don't wanna. I'm the big boy of the bunch. I
weigh about 60 pounds. I'm full-grown now. I am crate trained and do well
in the house. I have not been raised with children, so I need an all-adult
home, please.
If you're looking for a wonderful new family member, I'm your guy. I'm
neutered, up to date on my shots and current on heartworm preventative.
Adoption requirements for this dog will include a home visit and
references.

Greyhound, Black

Notes:
My name is Uri. I am a Greyhound/Black Mouth Cur mix male. I have lots of
energy, and a very sweet boy. I am about 1 year old and weigh about 55
lbs. I have already been neutered, all shots and wormings and I tested
negative for heartworms. I will probably do well with a female dog, and I
could learn how to get along with cats. It will probably be best if I go
to a home with older children. Please give me my very own home!

Notes:
Hi! My name's Mamie and I was a teenage mother. People call me the Dr.
Seuss dog because I look so funny. I can't help but smile all the time,
I'm just so happy, happy to be alive I guess, especially when they took me
out of "the pound" and put me at my foster moms. Of course, I
was super happy too when they took me and my puppies away from my first
home and to the pound. I'm not one to complain but I was worried about my
babies, they weren't looking too good and neither was I. You see I never
had much food and my hair was all gone and I was very very skinny and
covered with an infection all over my body. My puppies looked the same. So
I said YeeHa when they picked me up from that awful place. And then I had
3 wonderful foster moms all of a sudden to take extra special care of me
and my pups at the pound. After 2 months I started getting some hair! And
my pups got well too and now they have good homes. So now that I'm
recovered I'm ready to have my own childhood! I just love to play and
prance around showing off my new hair. I'm very good on a leash. I wanna
play with the cats but they don't wanna play with me. I do have to confess
that I haven't liked every dog that I have met in my life, in particular
female dogs. But when I meet ones I like, I really like 'em. Sometimes I
get so excited I just jump straight up in the air. My foster mom says I'm
inquisitive, loving, puppyish, energetic and beautiful. That last one
makes me smile so much my tail goes in a full circle.
MAE Pit Bull Terrier Mix This pet is: up

Notes:
My name is Mae. I'm a beautiful brindle Pit Bull mix female dog. I'm a
very sweet, friendly girl. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs.
Because my breed seems to be hard to adopt, I feel very lucky to be alive.
All the volunteers here felt I deserved a chance for a good life. Please
make that dream come true for me. I have been spayed, I have all my
vaccinations and wormings. I did test positive for heartworms, but I have
now completed my heartworm treatment. I will need a nice, securely fenced
yard, and because of my breed, I will not be able to be adopted by a
family with small children. I think I would get along with a non-dominate
male dog, but I'm not sure about cats. I think the volunteers were right,
I do deserve a chance for a good life. Please, will YOU give me that
chance.
X-Man Labrador Retriever Mix This pet is: up

Notes:
I'm X-Man. I do believe the name fits me. I'm a medium size, compact, ball
of energy. I'm about 2 years old. I think I have some yellow lab in me,
and maybe some terrier. I am very sweet and loving, and I can even smile.
I just love to be around people, although, I think I would be a bit much
for small children. I'm really not sure about cats but I think I could
learn to get along fine with a female dog. My foster mom thinks I might
could learn to do all kinds of tricks, and maybe even Frisbee. I have
already been neutered and have had all my shots and wormings. I tested
negative for heartworms and have been started on monthly heartworm
preventative. I can't wait to get out of this cage and start playing with
my new family. Please HURRY!

Retriever Mix This pet is: up

Notes:
Howdy. Ivan here. I need to tell you up front that my mom is a Pit Bull
mix. I was born at the city pound in September, 2003. My 3 siblings and I
were moved to foster care when we were 2 months old and Mom was later
reclaimed by her owner. Dad was evidently a wandering lab.
Let me tell you that I was the first of the group to learn to sit. So what
if it was because I really, really wanted that treat. I also learned that
to get attention, I can sit and give you a sweet inquisitive look. But
rest assured I know how to play. Toys are the best. I am also
crate-trained. It would only take a little positive reinforcement for me
to be completely housebroken.
I am definitely the most handsome of all - in my formal black and white.
My most distinctive feature? My feet. Foster Mom said that if I were a
horse, I'd be a Clydesdale. She says that is definitely NOT an insult. I
am full-grown now and weigh about 50 pounds.
I was the runt of the litter so sometimes I feel the need to prove that I
am as big as everybody else and I get a little pushy. I would do best as
an only dog - or, I could certainly live with my sister Ivy. She knows how
to handle me. Because I have not been around children, I get a little
intimidated by them so my new family needs to be adults only, please. I am
neutered, up to date on my shots and current on heartworm preventative.
Foster Mom told me that I will only be adopted to a family that loves me
as much or more than she does. And that's A LOT! Shhh. Don't tell but I
love hugs.
Adoption requirements for this dog will include a home visit and
references.

Vinney epitomizes the term ?special needs?. He has been terribly abused
and we believe that someone tried to drown him. He is obsessed with
emptying his water bowl. Also the toes of one of his back feet have been
cut off. But Vinney holds no grudges against humans. With people he is
sometimes hyper but never aggressive; he always is ready for a pat on the
head. It will take a very special person to work with Vinney. His care
will be a major undertaking but if you might be interested in helping him,
please contact us.

My name is Ursula. I'm a Border Collie mix female. I'm about 1 year old
and weigh about 45 lbs. I love to run and jump and play. I think I will
get along fine with other dogs, and maybe cats, if they don't mind me
chasing them occasionally. I have already been spayed, all my shots and
wormings and I tested negative for heartworms. I am ready to go to my new
family. Please hurry.

Notes:
The volunteers named me Honey because I'm a favorite at the pound and they
think I really am a honey of dog. I, too, seem to be a Collie mix,
just look at that beautiful face. I'm more laid back than Hera. I think I
would be happy being a lap dog. The volunteers are impressed at how
quietly I can sit and be held. If you choose me to live with you, I think
I just might do something impressive every day. Want to take a chance with
me?

Yes, my name is CiCi but no pizza jokes please. I'm a young girl with lots
of love and energy. Bebe is my roomie, but I'd much rather be sharing my

problems due to stress caused by not really knowing what was going on in
my life but that's all behind me now. Please share your home with me -

Frito. That's my name. Just letting everyone see my picture. You know,
it's hard for a girl to be photogenic when the ambient temperature is 103.
I was very scared when I came to the pound. I had to share a 4x4 kennel
with Flicka who was my friend. Our friendship became a little strained
with such closeness. We have now been moved to foster care. I have learned
to walk on a leash and am a loving dog. I'd love to have a forever home
soon.

Hello. My name is Ivy. I need to tell you now that my mom is a Pit Bull
mix but she is the sweetest dog that ever was. I'm not saying that just
because she is my mom. Everybody who knows her, says so. My siblings and I
were born at the city pound in September,2003. We were moved to foster
care when we were 2 months old. Mom was later reclaimed by her owner. Dad
was a lab, we think.
My black coat is somewhat unique in that it has brown highlights. In the
sun, it really shows. I'm sweet and well-mannered, inside and outside. I'm
the peacemaker. My favorite spot in the whole world is Foster Mom's
leather chair. I'm very careful when I'm resting there. Don't get me
wrong, I can certainly hold my own in puppy games. I'm as smart as the
rest of the family, just a little more subtle and much more humble.
Because there are no children in our foster home. I don't really know much
about them and Foster mom said it would be best if my forever home did not
include children. Heavy sigh. I weigh 41 pounds, my ideal weight. I am
crate trained and have not had an accident in the house for months.
It's rather crowded here at our foster home. I know Foster Mom won't hold
it against me when I say I'm ready to move on to my forever family. My
bags are packed and I'm ready to go. I am spayed, current on all my shots
and heartworm preventative.
Adoption requirements for this dog will include a home visit and
references.

I'm Flicka. I'm not a very big girl. A smaller medium size, I guess. I'm a
happy girl who is SO ready for a forever home. My friend Frito and I had
to share a small space at the pound for a couple of months and I must say
that we ended up getting on each other's nerves. The volunteers don't like
to put 2 dogs in one cage but the alternative is something we don't want
to think about. I am in foster care now and things are much better. Will
you be my friend?

Xanadu. Did you ever see that movie Citizen Kane? It had a Xanadu. Not as
important as 'Rosebud' but it was in the movie. A classic. And so am I.
Some good Samaritans found me on the road. I had a broken leg. But I'm
healed now. The volunteers thought for sure that my owners would be
looking for me because other than that broken leg I was in great shape.
But alas, they haven't so I'm up for a new family. Could that be you?

Good evening. My name is Murdoch, the sophisticated dog about town.
Don’t I look the part? GOTCHA! I’m a clown. Guaranteed to make you
laugh every day. I’m a mix. Judging by my short legs, maybe Dachshund,
maybe Corgi, maybe Basset Hound. The dark muzzle? Who knows where that
came from. I’m a couple of years old maybe. Hate to admit it but I was
scared to death when I was first trapped and brought to the pound. All I
could do was shiver and drool. What disgusting memories. Ain’t skeered
now. Just curious and adventurous. So if you are interested in giving a
home to a smile giver, ask about me. Oh yes, I think I would prefer an all
adult home. Maybe I am still a tiny bit afraid – of little ones.

My name is Gunny. I came to the pound when I was a pup They need a new
picture of me. I’ve grown up and am quite striking. I was born in the
spring of 2005 and now I weigh 50 pounds. However I’ve overheard that
some think my name should be Gun-shy. Loud noises scare me as well as
sudden movements. I need someone willing to work with me and show me that
I don’t need to be afraid. I am quite an acrobat. When I was a puppy I
could almost do backflips but now that I am grown, there is not enough
room for me to practice. I promise that you wouldn’t be sorry if you
gave me a loving home.

Excuse me, I’m trying to figure out this Texas weather. I came to the
pound in October, 2005 when I was about 5 or 6 months old (that’s my
puppy picture, by the way) and it was very hot and now that it’s spring
it froze last night. Can anyone explain that? Guess not. Everybody just
shrugs their shoulders when I ask. I’m Junior. A young Catahoula mix. I
weigh 40 pounds now that I’m grown or at least almost so. I’m cute and
loveable but have LOTS of energy. Think I need a job. It was a great shock
to the volunteers but I was heartworm positive when I first arrived. I was
so young. Maybe I came from a swamp. I’ve been treated and am ready to
go live a great life. Do you need a great dog?

Hey, do you know Joe Palooka, the boxer? Well, I’m Palooka, the Boxer
mix. I’m smaller in stature but am pretty stout. I’m a good dog. I
don’t soil my kennel at the pound even though it is sometimes 24 hours
between walks so I think I could be housetrained in nothing flat. Not sure
that I like cats but I get along with most dogs unless one wants to get
too friendly with my girlfriend who lives across the hall. I love people
but I will probably do better in a family with older children. I’m not
bad, just might knock down the little ones when I get frisky. Guess I am
maybe 5 years old.
I had heartworms when I was brought to the pound. However I have been
treated and am ready to go. Up to date on shots, neutered and everything.

Hi!!!! My name is Mack, a pack of energy. I’m a very happy guy. I love
to run and to play with tennis balls. My foster mom said I’d be great as
a Frisbee dog. I can jump and float through the air. She would help me
practice but alas, she is Frisbee challenged – even though she is of the
Frisbee generation. I can run fast as the wind but then I can stop and
jump straight up and bounce, just like Shrek’s friend Donkey.
If you’ve got energy and want a dog that can keep up with you, I’m your
guy. I’m just 35 pounds and know I’ll be easy to housetrain with a bit
of positive reinforcement. I think I was born in the spring of 2005.
